If the mountains in the previous post such as Galdhøpiggen and Pico, which rise to a height of more than 2.3 km, or the highest point in Finland, Halti, which reaches 1.3 km, made you sweat on your couch too much, maybe the highest point in the next country could be just the right option. We visited the third smallest country in Europe for the first time during our fall vacation trip to Italy. The country that is only slightly larger in terms of population than, for example Riihimäki or Savonlinna in Finland. It was, of course, San Marino and its highest mountain, Monte Titano.
Compared to the other mountains we have achieved, the highest point of San Marino, Monte Titano, was noticeably different. The mountain is located close to the city center and almost all the way to the top is accessible by public transport. One of the easiest ways to get to San Marino is by bus from the Italian side of Rimini, also known as a beach resort. There are all together three towers at the top of Monte Titano: Guaita (First Tower), Cesta (Second Tower) and Montale (Third Tower). We saw all of these from the outside, and the total distance from the parking lot and back was only about 2.5 kilometers with the circular path.
