Kneiff - the highest point in Luxembourg 560 m

Kneiff:

When peaked: 16.06.2024

Distance: 100m, 1 min

The highest point in Luxembourg, Kneiff, is easier to “conquer” than climbing to the top floor of an apartment. If you didn’t know it was Luxembourg’s highest point, you might not even notice it. You can park your car right next to the summit and take a short walk to a plaque on the ground marking the highest spot.

However, the biggest challenge is its location within the country. The summit is situated on Luxembourg’s northern border, over an hour’s drive and about 80 kilometers from the city center. Therefore, having your own or a rental car is almost essential—unless you’re up for a longer bike ride through the beautifully green countryside.

In addition to this place, we visited the highest points of the Netherlands and Belgium during the same day, as the total driving distance between these locations is only about 90 km and takes approximately 1.5 hours.

After the rain, the colors at the summit were beautiful. Along the gravel road, you’ll also pass the fields of grain.

13. Buurgplaatz Luxembourgissa

Just about a kilometer from Kneiff lies Buurgplaatz, which is only about a meter lower. In fact, this spot was considered Luxembourg’s highest point until 1997 and still looks it to many visitors due to its observation tower that was closed this time.

You can easily visit both locations, but once you’ve conquered Kneiff, you can officially say you’ve stood at the highest point in Luxembourg!
